Background

The Background relation provides some background information to the information specified in the nucleus and is a nucleus-satellite relation. The satellite provides the additional information to the information of the nucleus.
In the context of dialogs this can be used for providing some additional information for a question. Figure Background shows the corresponding state chart. The nucleus terminates the execution of the whole Background relation, independently of the satellites’ execution state. The difference to a Joint relation is, that the satellite has not to be executed until its final state is reached. The Background relation allows modeling more complex branches than a single Informing Communicative Act as a satellite, which has not to be executed until the end. The state chart does not define a special order between the execution of the satellite and the nucleus.
